    As of January 1, 2025 - If you are not currently a Grade IV licensed installer, you will need to complete a 24-Hour Installer School and a 6-Hour Continuing Education course in addition to Inspector School. You can find more information and register for an installer class here: www.owpnc.com/installer

  • The continuing education required to become a certified septic inspector are provided by Onsite Wastewater Professionals and can be found under the Classes & Events page.

    Level IV Installers do not need to complete the additional 6-Hours in order to get licensed but will be required to complete 6-Hours annually for renewal of their license.

  • Mail your application for certification, certification fee, required course attendance certificates, and exam application to NCOWCICB P.O. Box 132 Lawsonville, NC 27022.

    The certification fee for Inspectors is $200.

  • This exam is held multiple times a year and must be applied for 15 days in advance through the North Carolina Onsite Wastewater Contractor Inspector Certification Board (NCOWCICB).

  • Certifications expire annually on December 31st and require continuing education for renewal, due by November 15th.

    Inspectors need 6 hours of continuing educatio each eyear.
