Continuing Education

  • Installer

    Septic Installers are regulated by the NCOWCICB and require continuing education each year that varies based on grade level. Installers are required to receive continuing education in-person and online courses are not approved for license renewal.

  • Inspector

    Septic Inspectors in NC are regulated by the NCOWCICB and require continuing education each year. Licensed Inspectors are required to receive continuing education in-person. Online courses are not approved for license renewal.

  • Pumper

    Pumpers are regulated by the NC Department of Environmental Quality and require continuing education each year to renew their firm permit. Some pumpers must also renew for land application or seepage detention facilities.

  • REHS / RS

    Registered Environmental Health Specialists and Sanitarians are authorized by NCDHHS and regulated buy the North Carolina State Board of Environmental Health Specialist Examiners. NC REHS/RS may take in person or online classes for renewal.

  • Soil Scientist

    Licensed Soil Scientists (LSS) are regulated by the North Carolina Soil Science Licensing Board and require continuing education credits each year. A North Carolina Licensed Soil Scientist may take in person or online classes for renewal.

  • AOWE

    Authorized Onsite Wastewater Evaluators are regulated by the NCOWCICB and require continuing education each year that varies based on grade level. AOWE’s are required to receive continuing education in-person and online courses are not approved for license renewal.

  • Operator

    Subsurface Wastewater Operators are regulated by the Water Pollution Control System Operators Certification Commission of the NC Department of Environmental Quality and require continuing education each year. Online and in person classes are approved.

  • Engineer

    Professional Engineers are regulated by The North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors and require continuing education each year. Most engineers will self report training from Onsite Wastewater Professionals for both online and in-person classes.

  • Geologist

    Licensed Geologists are regulated by The North Carolina Board for Licensing of Geologists and require continuing education each year. Most geologists will self report training for both online and in-person classes. A provider approval request is pending to simplify the process.
